Great Day!
Grampy,Mom,Tammy(barry's girlfriend),My Brother Barry In front of the new sign!
Today was a great day! I went to a ceremony that was dedicated to the war vets! The town that my grandfather lives in built a wonderful committee center. My mom even a bought a brick with her business name on it and it's in the front lobby. I was excited to see it. Of course I had tears falling down my face when they starting telling stories of the hardship they went through and how we are so lucky to have them fight for our freedom. Boy my heart really swelled up. I'm so proud of my Grandfather. He's a amazing man! It was really sad to see the man that sat beside my grandfather tearing up. I guess it brought back many memories for him. I just want to go over and give him a hug. To say thank you for being you. I can't imagine the horror they went through. So the town decided that the vet deserve to have a place named after them. Also a place for them to call their own. If they need a place to do things they have one. They also informed us that in Nov after vet day there will be a day dedicated to all the war brides and NB is the first to have this honor for these wonderful women that went through their own hardship! Well they asked all the war brides to stand up then they gave them roses. Well the tears started to roll down my eyes again. These women didn't know and they were shocked. You could see the appreciation on their faces along with their tears. This was a great moment a moment I will treasure!
Then we all went out to dinner. A wonderful woman came over when she notice grampy's medals. She was such a breath of fresh air! She was 87 years old. She is also a war vet and she only starting to receive her medals now. She told us of the job she had and how she had gotten so sick from her job at the hospital. But she never complain she just told us of the problems she had to deal with without a note of regret. Let's just say I never learned all the history about the war in school as I did today from all the vets!
Please say thanks you to your vets. Let them know they are love. Have you hugged a Vet Today! I know I have and I hug him as much as I can!
